Sebright Arms, London
A monthly new music series focused on bolstering emerging talent in the very best of London’s grassroots spaces. This month we bring Lonnie Gunn + PEVOVA + lifepath99 to Sebright Arms.
Born in the US and now based in Brighton, Lonnie is an artist carving out a world of her own – one that sits somewhere between saccharine and sordid, playful and unflinchingly raw. Visually and conceptually, Lonnie Gunn exists in a world of “fuzzy static heaven” – something beautiful but slightly uncanny, where femininity, the body and surreal discomfort intertwine. It’s a space that mirrors her music: intimate yet abrasive, tender yet grotesque.
PEVOVA are a 6 piece shoegaze dream-pop band fronted by London-born singer-songwriter Aimee Pevova. With influences such as My Bloody Valentine, Warpaint and PJ Harvey, the atmospheric show creates a vivid dreamscape with sparkling synths underpinned by industrial heavy guitars to emulate finding magic in a city as you enter adulthood.
lifepath99 is the project of Bex Vines based in transformation and a juxtaposition of pop music and heavy walls of sound.
