tobi lou is a Nigerian-born, Chicago-raised hip-hop artist, singer-songwriter, and producer whose innovative sound and bold artistry have made him a rising star in the music world. Born in Lagos and raised in Chicago, tobi lou’s journey into music followed a brief semi-pro baseball career that was cut short by injury. Transitioning from sports to music, he quickly made a name for himself with his 2020 hit single Buff Baby, which was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), cementing his position as an emerging force in the industry. He continued to build on his success with his sold-out Happy + Extra Sad Tour, which further expanded his fanbase and showcased his captivating live performances.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2014 to chase his musical dreams, tobi lou initially worked as a songwriter and producer for other artists while moonlighting as an Uber driver. His breakthrough came in 2017 with the release of Game Ova, a self-produced track and music video directed by Joshua “Glassface” Goldenberg, which quickly amassed over 2.6 million views on YouTube. This marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between tobi lou and Glassface, who has directed nearly all of his music videos.

In 2018, tobi lou dropped three critically acclaimed EPs—tobi lou and the Moon, tobi lou and the Loop, and tobi lou and the Juice—before joining Los Angeles rapper Kyle on his nationwide “Lightspeed” tour. He continued to build momentum with the release of his debut album Live on Ice in 2019, selling out shows across the country and performing at major festivals such as Bonnaroo and Governors Ball.

2020 saw the release of Lingo Starr, a three-track EP that included Return of the Dragon, Strikes Back, and Drunken Master. The EP was accompanied by a visually striking music video that explored themes of racism in America, shot in various Los Angeles locations. The project highlighted his unique approach to music and storytelling, with collaborations from producers Poolsuite and Maximilian.

In 2021, tobi lou’s career reached new heights with the release of Perish Blue, which featured the song Cobra with Young Thug. That same year, he delivered an unforgettable performance at Lollapalooza, one of the most prestigious music festivals in the world. His performance was a defining moment in his career, showcasing his dynamic stage presence and solidifying his status as an artist to watch. His ability to connect with the crowd and deliver an electrifying show helped further expand his fanbase and cemented his place as a rising star in the music scene.

Throughout his career, tobi lou has collaborated with a range of artists, including Young Thug, Chief Keef, Polo G, and Chance the Rapper, among others. His music has racked up over 428 million streams globally, and his albums, Decent and Perish Blue, showcase his artistic evolution and versatility. With his innovative approach to music and captivating visuals, tobi lou is poised to continue making waves in the music industry for years to come.
