The Red Clay Strays

Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, The Red Clay Strays—Brandon Coleman (vocals), Drew Nix, Zach Rishel, Andrew Bishop, and John Hall—formed as working-class musicians steeped in the sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Southern soul. After cutting their teeth in Gulf Coast bars, they welcomed keyboardist Sevans Henderson in early 2024, rounding out their powerful live sound.

With a genre-blending style rooted in rock, country, and soul, the band broke through with their self-released debut album, Moment of Truth (2022), featuring viral hit “Wondering Why.” The song catapulted into Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative and Hot Country Songs charts, earning them ‘Emerging Artist of the Year’ at the 2024 Americana Honors & Awards.

Following a deal with RCA Records, they teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb to record Made by These Moments. The 11-track album received critical acclaim from Rolling Stone and NPR, debuted on the Billboard 200, and marked a bold evolution in their sound.

Television appearances on The Tonight Show, Kimmel, and NPR’s Tiny Desk solidified their rise, as did a string of sold-out shows—including a three-night run at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, captured in their first live album. With festival stops at Red Rocks, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits, 2025 is shaping up to be their biggest year yet.
