Metroland are a cult sketch group and comedy collective from the North East (4 Geordies, 1 Mackem) who burst onto the Fringe scene in 2024 with ‘The Box’ – which was included in the Guardian and Rolling Stone’s top picks of the Fringe, transferred to Soho Theatre in London and established them as a must-watch name on the UK comedy scene.
Nominated for Best Sketch Show and Best Newcomer at the Chortle Awards 2025 – they return to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2026 with their new show ‘As Seen On TV’.
In an age where gathering round the television with the family – doing anything but talking to each other – is a thing of the past, this comedy group is determined to bring you a genuine shared experience of sitting and watching.
Known for their “sharply surreal writing and natural funny bones” (Chortle) and “whatever The Scotsman said” (The Scotsman), Metroland Comedy invites you to an hour of programmed entertainment full of absurd and acerbic characters painted with a smattering of Geordie charm. It’s definitely not a simulation.
