Av Freeman grew up the youngest of five in rural Missouri, split between a mother struggling with addiction and a cash-poor father. No A/C, no consistent food, no plan beyond surviving the next week. At fifteen he found his older brother dead from suicide. He responded the only way he knew how: he channeled his grief and started recording.
