Daffo, the 21-year-old Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter born Gabi Gamberg, brings poetic precision and raw honesty to indie rock, exploring shame, self-loathing, misplaced affection, and the restless mind. Originally from suburban Philadelphia, Gamberg began writing songs at nine and honed their sound through countless DIY shows in New York and New Jersey. After touring with Sir Chloe and illuminati hotties, they make their full-length debut with Where the Earth Bends, produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Beck) and recorded at his Mant Sounds Studio with engineer Matt Schuessler and drummer Josh Adams.
The album channels frenetic intimacy, from the self-aware anthem “Get a Life” to the distortion-heavy “Habit” (about living with OCD) and the gently visceral “Quick Fix” (on destructive coping). Other highlights include the grief-soaked “Dagger Song,” grungy breakup track “Absence Makes the Heart Grow,” and the quietly devastating “Sideways.”
Classically trained on violin before embracing guitar, Gamberg’s path wound through Berklee’s summer program, Idyllwild Arts Academy, NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, and the TikTok virality of “The Experiment.” Since signing with Concord Records, they’ve played major festivals and toured internationally. For Gamberg, connection is a gift—but songwriting remains a personal necessity: “I still just write for myself and for my survival.”
