Join Barns Courtney at The Electric Ballroom this October.
Barns Courtney is heavy on stomp and swagger, bringing to mind the primal thump of The White Stripes, the punk rock energy of the Sex Pistols, and a good dose of indie-rock edge and gospel.
After playing in bands growing up whilst developing his sound, Barns incarnation as a solo artist has been an unexpectedly fast paced one. At the end of 2015, his first solo single 'Glitter & Gold' soared to #1 on the UK Spotify Viral Chart, #2 on the iTunes Alternative Chart, was added to the BBC Introducing playlist, whilst racking up hundreds of thousands of plays on YouTube, and was featured on the ITV Winter 2015 drama reel all in the space of two months.
Known for his electrifying live performances, Courtney has toured the world and opened for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Blur, Fitz and the Tantrums and The Who.
His debut album The Attractions Of Youth brings us a solid modern instalment of the genre, complete with all the right dashes of blues, folks, and poetry, plus plenty of unpolished grit, wit and a sense of humour that makes Courtney's brand of rock pop. He describes the album as "the naive, seemingly indomitable passion for music that burned in my gut since I can remember".
